Welcome to the website of University of Granada's Department of Translation and Interpreting.
Our Department was set up in 1992, marking the achievement of one of the objectives of the process which gradually introduced our disciplines into Spanish universities. In our case, this process dates back to 1980, when the old School of Translators and Interpreters was founded. As part of the same developments, it also became a Faculty in the academic year 1992-93.
The members of this Department teach a growing number of course units to some 1400 students, on translating and interpreting between Spanish (the Department´s mother tongue or A language) and each student´s B language, chosen from English, French, German or Arabic, or their C language, chosen from Arabic, English, French, German, Chinese, Italian, Portuguese or Russian, together with related disciplines such as Terminology. Apart from our teaching, the Department periodically organises extracurricular activities such as seminars, courses and lectures.
In our site you will find information about our undergraduate course structure, about our doctoral programme, our members of staff and a notice board on which we will publish information about short courses, conferences, lectures, seminars, and so on. We hope that this will be of use to you. Do not hesitate to contact us if you require further information: we will be pleased to be of help.
